The full tuition for this retreat is $850. It does not include meals or lodging.
This five-day workshop tackles quilt composition, fabric painting, quilt top texture generation, and the use and comparative benefits – basically, the “what, why, when, and how" – of key alternative quilt construction techniques (raw edge, turned edge, and reverse appliqué; insetting; free-form strip piecing; and couching). Knowledge of these core techniques can benefit most any art quilt.
Students are asked to bring an enlarged quilt-size photograph (or sketch) to inspire and help guide their fabric painting (desired colors, palette, etc.) and subsequent quilt top composition and construction.
Denise’s workshops are very hands-on and are strongly focused on one-on-one coaching and techniques-related exploration and learning. Her objective is to teach replicable techniques and “lessons learned” that students can both personalize and confidently expand on once away from the classroom.
Denise Labadie has been a solo exhibiting artist and featured instructor at national exhibitions in the US, the UK, France, Italy, China, South Korea, Luxembourg, Germany, The Netherlands, and Spain. She is a multiple Quilt National award winner (both People’s Choice and Craftsmanship).
Her art quilt portraits of megalithic stones (think “Stonehenge”) and monastic ruins are known for their strong composition and emotionality, hand-painted fabric, assertive textures and dimensionality, and overall craftsmanship and technique precision.

Cancellation Policy: If WE cancel the retreat, you will receive a full refund.
If you cancel 60 days or more from the start date of the retreat, you will receive a full refund minus $100 cancellation fee.
If you cancel 59 days to 31 days before the start of the retreat, you will receive a 50% refund minus $100 cancellation fee.
If you cancel within 30 days of the start date of the retreat, you will not receive a refund and will be charged a $100 cancellation fee.
Transfer Policy:
If you cancel 30 days or more from the start date, you have the option to transfer your tuition paid minus the $100 cancelation fee to another retreat within 1 year.
Cancelations within less than 30 days will not be eligible for transfer to another retreat.
